The criteria for selection in Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) as spelled out in Pakistan Rangers Recruitment Rules 1968 is appended below:-

Not less than 121 lbs. No over weight candidates will be enlisted.

 

 

 

Note:- Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) is empowered to condone physical standard in special cases i.e higher qualification / sportsman.

 

 

 

Age Limits.

 

Not less than 18 years and not more than 25 years. Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) is competent to grant relaxation in upper age limit by two years i.e, upto 27 years.

Note:- The Director General Pakistan Rangers (Punjab) shall have the power to grant relaxation in the upper age limit by two years.

The following merit and provincial / regional quotas shall be observed in filling vacancies reserve for Direct Entries (Sub Inspectors, Havildars, Naiks & Sepoy):-

Merit quota - 7.5%

Punjab (including Federal area of Islamabad) - 50%

Sindh

Urban areas namely Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur - 7.6%

Rural areas i.e, rest of Sindh excluding Karachi, Hyderabad and Sukkur 11.4%

North West Frontier Province - 11.5%

Balochistan - 6%

Northern area and FATA - 4%

Azad Kashmir - 2%

(Northern areas consist of Gilgit, Baltistan, Diamir, Ghizar and Ghanche Districts)

Criteria for different trades Clerks, Signal, Medical, Veterinary, Electrical Mechanical Engineer etc is as under:-

Clerks. Clerical staff shall be enrolled separately for the purpose of clerical work only. Clerical staff shall not be liable to be transferred to General duty, same as provide in sub-rule (i) of rule 16 (transfer from one cadre to the other will be at the request of the individual).

Signal, Medical, Veterinary, Electrical Mechanical Engineer. No enrolment to the specialist / technical cadre shall be made direct. Persons for such cadre shall be initially enrolled in General Duty, then selected and employed in specialist / technical appointment by the respective Commandants or the officers authorized to do so. Such personnel as are deputed to serve in the specialist technical cadres shall get the normal trade / specialists pay assigned to the appointment / trade as long as they are serving in that particulars appointment. Those already enrolled in the specialist/technical cadres shall continue to service in their respective cadres.
